Halloween
You gotta love Halloween! It has always been my 2nd favorite holiday (Christmas coming in at #1) - the costumes, the candy, the crisp Fall air. I love it! We've had to make some unpopular Trick-or-Treating rules of late, though. In the Nielson household, once you hit high school, you're done going door to door for candy on Halloween. Amber was NOT pleased. The tricky part about this rule is that, unfortunately, there is photographic evidence of me, Amy, Trick-Or-Treating as a Sophomore at BYU! Pathetic, I know. My roommates and I dressed as ghosts and hit the Osmond's neighborhood in Provo in hopes of free candy. Our kids have seen the pictures and I am now being called a hypocrite. Oh well. The rule stands. And Amber still chose to don a Dracula cape and be festive!

Ah, the age old question - How old is too old to trick or treat? I went through 9th grade. Kennedy waffled back and forth of whether or not to go. She's in 8th grade and not sure where she fits in. 30 minutes before her brothers left for trick or treating, she threw together a costume and hit the streets with them for about an hour.
The costumes look great. Why can't we be neighbors and celebrate holidays like this together?
Go Nielsons! Love the costumes and love that someone helps pave the way for me as a parent. High school .... good rule. Several of my friends set the limit at 13 yrs old. We'll see....
You must have been sensing my ache for a Nielson update! I was happily surprised to see all the news...I hope you came to my apartment while trick-or-treating at BYU and I hope I gave you a giant chocolate something :) I love you.
A- Did I go with you dressed as a ghost to the Osmond stree?
B- Your type on your blog is WAY too small I decided. I feel like I have to get out my binoculars to read it. Either I'm old, or you could up your font size by one

I wasn't allowed to trick-or-treat after 6th grade and I turned out somewhat okay. :)
